Hearing pictures, experiencing art

The Kunsthaus Zürich offers guided tours for people with visual impairments, during which art is brought to life through vivid descriptions of the works.

Words replace colours, language shapes contours, and an inner image emerges through dialogue. Art-historical contexts merge with the participants' individual perceptions and experiences to create a vibrant artistic experience.

Sometimes, materials and the careful exploration of selected sculptures by touch enable direct experiences of form, surface and materiality. In this way, art becomes accessible in a sensory, inclusive and multi-layered manner. Developed in collaboration with Zürcher Sehhilfe.
